Tuesday – all pau with you today.

Despite yammering on about designing an amazing life, I do have days when it seems like it’s all falling apart.  So I wanted to share the details of one of those days with you.

It would have been better to not check e mail or text messages at all that day.  Better just to bury my head in the sand. I wish I were an ostrich.  We all do sometimes.  Me included.

My crap list:

  • Got complaints about an employee, and suspension of a license at my volunteer job.
  • Publicist for CWL book project quits on text message.
  • MVP Mentor in my business cancels a 1x monthly meeting with guest who I have invited expecting her, including someone from Taiwan.
  • My one paying client for therapy is a no show.
  • My hard workout day was too easy and I am stressed about being prepared for a race.
  • But maybe that last one doesn’t count because the race may be called off due to hurricane.
  • Other client has missing insurance, which means I won’t get paid for my work. – awesome.  Working as a volunteer again.

The above list was created at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon.  So I forced myself to carry on and created this list:

My mandated list of what I am grateful for:

  • Stoked on such good weather today.
  • Stoked to sit in this office right now, in silence and let my brain go.
  • Stoked for a healthy being and healthy family members.
  • Grateful for smoothies and Cooper (my son) and his friend.
  • New bike tires got done early for my race if there is no hurricane.
  • Grocery shopping that is convenient.
  • The presence of an top ranked consultant in my business.
  • A vehicle of counseling that is stable and simple –in theory.

Creating the second list at 3:05 really did make it better. It works almost every time.  Check out page 9 in the book Coconut Wireless Life for details.

Then I ended this list writing activity with a pep talk/reflection to myself:

Its good to have days that seems so OVERWHELMINGLY not what you wanted, that you are forced into submission to go with the flow. When it seems rough in all categories of life at the same time.  We don’t actually control anything, we just think we do, so when nothing goes the way you had planned for, its like getting the reminder all at once – quick. It reminds me of the feeling of a good proper wipeout at the start of an excellent surf session. Good to just get one big wipe out like that out of the way.

Doing bigger stuff, wiping out more.  Still standing

Ahhhh…. Tuesday. All pau with you today.
